International Women's Day 2022
"Only together can we move forward, so that there is light and hope for all women on the planet."
-Rigoberta Menchú Tum
International Women’s Day is marked annually on March 8th to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across time (internationalwomensday.org). More than that, this day also serves as an ongoing call to action for the global community around the rights of women and girls.
Within our PeaceJam community, we are honored to work with seven courageous Nobel Women who represent diverse communities and causes. Five of these Nobel Peace Laureates also represent a collective mission known as the Nobel Women’s Initiative.
The purpose of the initiative is “to magnify the power and visibility of women working in countries around the world for peace, justice and equality and bring together their extraordinary experiences and work to spotlight, amplify and promote the work of grassroots women’s organizations and movements around the world,” (nobelwomensinitiative.org).
As part of our 25th Anniversary celebration at PeaceJam/Billion Acts, we invite you to take action with us on March 8th in honor of the Nobel Women of PeaceJam.
