"On 27th April 2022, we successfully conducted the first ever, PeaceJam Uganda Slam supported by theGreat Lakes Peace Center, Uganda (GLPC) which is the official chapter of PeaceJam in Uganda.

This one-day conference (which was conducted at Makerere University Uganda) brought together young people from different institutions to discuss how best they can continue to influence positive change in world. This was done through small (family) group discussions, workshops, presentations, talent shows and experience sharing. The event was very successful and I believe, it did leave the attendees the same.

The slam was preceded by a PeaceJam Mentors' Training on the previous day (26th April) where university students were acquainted with the knowledge and skills of facilitating small group discussions ahead of the conference. These (mentors) later supported the family group sessions on the next day. We were very glad to have our friend, Wisdom Addo the coordinator of PeaceJam Ghana supporting the entire process of organising this, but most importantly joining us (virtually) for the mentors' training.

The cornerstone of PeaceJam's work is "Young People" which is why our engagements are done majorly by and with youths. We believe that, young people have the potential to get things done and can therefore, in that sense, be inspired and guided on how best they make their contribution towards changing the world."
