About this Event
As part of the PeaceJam Greece Community group, we have been visiting unaccompanied refugee youth at the Home Project's Pughad Girls Shelter, every other Sunday, for the last year. There, we talk about the Nobel Peace Laureate women and do crafts such as making bracelets and activities with the girls to understand what self leadership is, being an ally and social inclusion, but also how the lives and roles of girls are similar and different in some cultures. We do alot of translating through google as we dont speak all of the languages. There are girls from Syria, Afghanistan, Congo, Somalia, and Camaroon. One of my classmates does a great job speaking French with some of the girls! Each week we learn something new about eachother. Friendship is one of the best ways to make a difference in the world. Our Team, Amalia, Danae, Natalia (Campion School), Athina, Nefeli (St. Catherine'sSchool), Alexandra, Nefeli (Pierce College), Alkistis, Evi (Glyfada Public Lyceum), Stella, Sissi, Marina, Penny, Katerina, Myrto (Panteion University, Psychology students)
