We are living a unique and unprecedented moment for our generation
caused by COVID 19. This disease confined us to our homes during the
quarantine, we lost human lives, mental health and jobs leaving thousands of
families homeless without a livelihood, and sinking countries towards poverty.
Given this reality, it was extremely necessary to act. In Mexico, support for
entrepreneurship is limited and according to some statistics, 75% of new
businesses will not reach their second year of life.
That's why we (my team and I) created a free entrepreneurship program
based on EMPRETEC from the UN to help youth develop their
entrepreneurial skills and their business idea. This business idea had to lay
the foundations for a social enterprise that could respond to the Sustainable
Development Goals: no poverty, zero hunger, quality education, good health and
well-being, gender quality, decent work and economic growth, reduced
inequalities, responsible consumption and production.
The mission was clear: getting the world back to work. But this time in
a right way, because we believe that education, decent work with all its
warranties, and a safe place to work, are the first steps to build a community
where peace can be the reality and not the aspiration.
We were nominated for the Hult Prize Awards in two categories: Brand
Excellence and Initiative of the Year, due to our outreach, youth empowerment,
and community engagement, achieving the participation of NGOs, the private
sector and the government.
