To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, PeaceJam Rocky Mountain will host our first youth-led Climate Action Summit on April 25, 2020 with special guest, Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams. The Summit will bring together youth, adult allies and environmental partners across Colorado to address our local issues- together.
The Summit will showcase youth voices focusing on local environmental issues such as plastic pollution, water justice, and renewable energy action and Betty Williams will inspire and mentor local youth leaders as they work together on common sense solutions, showcase innovative student-led projects, engage in skill-building workshops and climate simulations - and determine actions we can all take to move the needle on these important issues together.
Students- Please add your Projects to this campaign for a chance to appear in the showcase!
Adult Allies and Organizations- Please let us know the actions you are taking to protect the water, land, food, climate and eliminate waste and plastic usage in Colorado.
The first Earth Day in 1970 achieved a unique political alignment, enlisting support from Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor, city dwellers and farmers, business and labor leaders.
On this 50th anniversary, many people will be marching around the world hoping to recreate the energy and bipartisan alignment created on the first Earth Day, and we want to show how many people in Colorado care about these issues, and identify some initiatives we can work on together moving forward.
