The summer fires in Mati Greece were the most deadly, burning hundreds of homes and taking 100 lives. College students from Deree-The American College of Greece raised money through bake sales and donations to purchase clothes and books for the youth in the area. They joined PeaceJam Greece and Intermediate who hosted a community building event. Students distributed the gifts and books and talked with youth about their experience, and encouraged them to look to their future, to find their passion and to choose their path in college. When a community is mourning, its important to keep the support coming in months after a natural disaster and never forget the needs of children.
