PEACE JAM SOUTH AFRICA YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2022
Together with Peace Jam SA the Restoring Hope Association facilitated 6 different service projects at this years Peace Jam SA Youth Leadership Conference
Service Project - Mural of Hope
Murals have the opportunity to tell the community’s story, create a unique experience, engage citizens, increase the foot traffic and tourism. And increase appreciation for arts and artists and overall attractiveness of the space.
A Mural of Hope was painted by our Peace Jam Participants at the Enkosi Place Safe House in Westlake. This home takes in and cares for abandoned and foster kids.
What made it even more special is that we were graced with the presence of 1992 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Rigoberta Mechu Tum from Guatemala. Words cannot begin to describe the feeling of gratitude and appreciation.
She showed her amazing spirit and experience by passionately engaging with the Youth and the Mural Painting we did in the community of Westlake. It was beautiful see how Rigoberta embraced our culture and city.
