SOCK PUPPET PROJECT

CAMPION SCHOOL, ATHENS, GREECE: There are many unaccompanied refugee youth in Greece who live in shelters with other youth who have lost their families or been seperated from them. Our PeaceJam group decided to create the "Sock Puppet Project". We invited our whole school to donate random socks, sewing supplies, ribbons and lots of candy. We created puppets out of the socks and stuffed them with candy and delivered them to the Home Project boys and girls shelter in Athens! We spent an afternoon talking, listening to music, making crafts, sharing sock puppets and eating cake! It was a small way of showing that we are thinking of them and to know that we care. --Danae Papaioanou
