BACKGROUND OF THE EVENT
The Peace Festival was born out of a vision to create a harmonious and inclusive community, where youths (students and pupils), educators, and community members could come together to promote peace, understanding, and social responsibility.
Recognizing the need for a platform to foster empathy, understanding, and unity amidst ongoing conflicts, discrimination, and social injustice, we were inspired by the teachings of nonviolent conflict resolution and peace education, Work of Rotary Peace Centres, Platforms like African Peace Concert and Knowledge attained from Institute of Economics and Peace. We sought to empower young people to become agents of positive change.
After 3 years of planning and collaboration with youths, teachers, and community stakeholders, the Peace Festival was launched. It has since grown into a beloved annual event, attracting participants from diverse backgrounds and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community.
Through music, art, poetry, conversations, inspiring speakers, and performances, the Peace Festival celebrates the human spirit and promotes a culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding. The aim is to inspire a new generation of peacemakers and change-makers, who will contribute to a more harmonious and inclusive healthy society.
