Today, as part of my activities as a Volunteer in Germany, we started a children's summer camp dubbed, “One-World Kids” which will go on for 5 days. This camp has brought together about 12 children from different parts of the city (Aalen), in which I am currently volunteering. The children are from different cultural backgrounds; German, Ukrainian and Turkish.
In the 5 days, we have planned to engage the kids (participants) in numerous activities that will involve helping them appreciate peace, intercultural cohesion and the concept of global learning. We will engage them in a number of games, including what is known as the “World Game”, activities such as painting, but also, short, entertaining presentations in line with the topics above.
We hope that, this camp will help us start to bring up children who have an appreciation of the idea of holistic (positive) peace through modules designed to fit their understanding.
