At Shicheng Elementary School in Taichung City, a special education graduate named A-Chen has inspired his classmates. Five years ago, he learned to walk at school, but now his friends A-Kang and Xiao-Xin face challenges of their own, relying on wheelchairs due to mobility issues. The fourth graders at Shicheng Elementary aim to support A-Kang in regaining his confidence in walking by sharing A-Chen's journey during their graduation ceremony.
To achieve this, the students worked closely with their special education teachers to gather stories about A-Chen's experience. They decided to produce a documentary highlighting his journey, showcasing the importance of companionship in learning. This initiative allows the fourth graders to illustrate how A-Chen's story can encourage A-Kang and other students, emphasizing that he is not alone in his struggles.
Through this project, the fourth graders not only seek to motivate A-Kang but also aim to raise awareness in their community about the significance of inclusion. By presenting their documentary to their classmates, especially in A-Kang's class, they hope to foster a supportive environment where all students, regardless of their abilities, can learn and thrive together at Shicheng Elementary School.
