Congo
Environnement et Nature (CEN) is implementing a 12-months program for 20 marginalised
and unemployed young people from 2 Peri Urban communities (Kalebuka and
Kasungami) in Lubumbashi the Democratic Republic of the Congo, aged between 18
and 35 years old to join together in an environmental leadership program
focused on environmental literacy, climate action and adaptation, leadership
development, capacity-building, project management coaching, networking &
career guidance, civic engagement, and with the concentration on green
entrepreneurship. This leadership program is to not just learn about
environmental issues, but to take action and launch sustainable small enterprises
in order to reduce youth unemployment, hunger and extreme poverty.
Through
participants-led projects and a wrap-up community event, the program intends to
transform youth from passive bystanders of environmental crises to active
leaders who can make a difference, create self-employment, build networks for
collaboration, and to reach community members.
