Welcome to day #15 of the 2023 Billion Acts Earth Month Campaign! You can visit the main campaign page here! Let us know how you joined today's call-to-action by clicking on "Share and Earn Peace Points" on the right side of the screen. We also welcome you to add your own Earth month events and calls-to-action to the campaign page as well. We're on a mission to reach 1,000 acts by April 22nd!
Congrats, you've made it to day #15 of the Billion Acts Earth Day Countdown! Our last day is focused on community-action. We've focused on 15 different topics throughout this campaign, highlighting different youth-leaders across our community. All of these leaders started as everyday changemakers just like yourself. Together, they demonstrate the impact that dedicate individuals and teams can make. The key is community.
At the beginning of this campaign, we created our own individual Earth Month resolutions. As you celebrate Earth Day today, I want you to expand this resolution even further. Ask yourself, how will I become an environmental steward within my community this year? In other words, how will you inspire or work with others to keep your community healthy? You can add this new resolution to the bottom of the print-out!
Inspiration:
Across our Billion Acts community, we know that many community-organizations and individuals are taking action for Earth Day 2023. In South Africa, 2022 Billion Acts Awardee Restoring Hope has already brought their community together for several environmental projects. Restoring Hope is a youth-led community organization that works to empower the Cape Flats community through emergency relief programs, donation programs, services, and community-events. One of their most passionate initiatives is their mentorship programs that guide youth into realizing their true potential.
As part of their Earth Day campaign for 2023, Restoring Hope will be organizing special "Earth week" events in support of their ongoing local clean-up and community gardening initiatives. Over the years, they have added new partners with expertise in aquaponics and food security projects. This will be their 5th consecutive year of running these youth and community centered projects in local high-risk communities. See COMMUNITY CLEANUP AND GARDENING INITIATIVE!
